Emergency Services

Both engine 12, from our Crystal Bay station, and engine 13, from our Mt. Rose station,  are regularly staffed with firefighter/paramedics and all of our firefighters are state of Nevada Emergency Medical Technicians. Most of our apparatus and vehicles are supplied with semi-automatic defibrillators. We also provide CPR classes and defibrillation classes for our communities (link to CPR e-mail AHA@nltfpd.net). The North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District EMS ( Emergency Medical Services) program provides a very specialized service to the citizens and visitors of the Incline Village/Crystal Bay.  All of our emergency personnel are trained at the Emergency Medical Technician Basic level, in addition, we have a total of  21 Paramedics spanning the ranks of our organization from Firefighter, Apparatus Engineer, and Captain through Chief Officer.  This allows for us to provide service at all times to our customers.  We provide 2 staffed ambulances and 2 reserve ambulances to the community.

In addition to rescuing the community from snow, water and backcountry we are outfitted to provide access and to emergency medical services working closely and training with Nevada State Parks, Washoe County Search and Rescue, REMSA care flight, USFS, and the Sierra Fire Protection District.

In 1982 we started to provide the transportation of the sick and injured in the Incline Village/Crystal Bay area.  We have continued to provide this service with a strong commitment to the community.  Many of our ambulance transports are to the Incline Village Community Hospital, Tahoe Forest Hospital, Renown Regional Medical Center and Saint Mary's Hospital.

We are unique in state of the art equipment.  Zoll M series external defibrillators with 12 lead EKG external cardiac pacing and noninvasive blood pressure provides our customers the best in the industry.  We have enhanced our program with ETCO2 (End-Title CO2 monitoring) though we utilize transport ventilators to better serve those in desperate need in ventilatory care.  All EMS personnel receive hours of monthly EMS training and yearly continuing medical education through our sponsored and highly acclaimed Annual North Lake Tahoe Paramedic Refresher, held annually.
This year the 14th Annual Paramedic Refresher will be held December 2nd - 4th (see below).
